Is it really free?
Yes. All of it, for everyone — no trial clock, no credit card, no usage quotas. There is no paid tier to upgrade to.
Which AI models does EditVolt use?
Whatever you connect: Claude, Gemini, any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, Hugging Face, or fully local models via Ollama. Completions run on a bundled local engine by default, and smart routing sends quick tasks to a fast lane and heavy tasks to your preferred frontier model.
Is my code used to train models?
Not by us — we operate no server that your code or prompts pass through, and we never see them. (Signing in is optional and only ever tells us your email address.) Indexing happens locally on your machine, and AI requests go directly to the provider you configured under your own keys, governed by that provider's policy. See our Privacy Policy.
Can I use my own API keys?
Yes — and it is the normal way to use EditVolt. You connect your own provider keys, so AI usage is billed by that provider at their rates, never by us.
Do you offer student or open-source discounts?
There is nothing to discount — students, maintainers and companies all get the same free editor.
